Preparations for the July 2025 grant payment by SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) are going on in full swing in South Africa. SASSA official statement: “There will be no double payments”

Head of Communications at SASSA Paseka Letsatsi has clarified on the whole issue. He added, this is not true information and it has never been published by SASSA. I request you not post such random speculative gossips on social sites.”

He also added that this kind of fake information manifests fear and confusion to the most susceptible groups of the society. This can be mentally taxing and insecure especially to the individuals who entirely rely on such grants when such rumours occur.

Official SASSA payment dates for July 2025

Like every month, in July 2025 also all grants will be distributed by SASSA on time. Below are the due dates for all major grants:

• Senior Persons Grant: Tuesday, July 2, 2025
• Disability Grant: Wednesday, July 3, 2025
• Children Grant: Thursday, July 4, 2025

Once the payment is released, beneficiaries can withdraw the amount from a bank account, retail store or mobile cash point at any time as per their convenience.

No double payment, but grant amount has increased

Although double payment is not being made in July, it must be known that the government had increased the amount of grants in April 2025 itself. This increase was done keeping in mind the rising inflation and cost of living, so that the low income group could get some relief.

• Seniors aged 60 to 74 and those with disabilities: now R2,315 (increase of R130)
• Seniors aged 75 and above: now R2,335 (increase of R135)
• War veterans: now R2,315 (increase of R130)
• Care Dependency Grant: R2,315
• Child Support Grant: now R560 (increase of R30)
• Foster Care Grant: now R1,250 (increase of R70)

All these increases are part of the R284.7 billion Social Grant Fund announced in the 2025 Budget speech by Finance Minister Enock Godongwana.

Available ways to receive the grant

SASSA has ensured that every beneficiary has convenient and suitable options to receive payments. There are currently three main options:

1. Bank Account:

Beneficiaries can receive funds directly into their bank account, from which they can withdraw money at any time or make transactions with a card.

2. Retail Collection Points:
   Payments can also be taken at large retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, Usave, OK and Checkers.
3. Mobile Cash Pay Points:
   It is a special medical facility of rural and remote dwelling citizens. Nevertheless, this service is limited regarding the dates and the time.
